Riverview Farms

The place where we live was built in the late 1800's by A.C. Hawkins, a wealthy
poultry farmer.  It was known as Riverview Poultry Yards and, according to the

correspondence we keep finding in the walls, he did business all over the country.

When I started my software consulting business in 1993, I needed a name.  I
adapted the original as "Riverview Farms" so that I could put on my business card
the
proud and truthful legend, "Serving the Software Community Since 1882".

May Day at Earlham College..

My senior year, Earlham College put on "Big May Day", a re-creation of an Old English May Day celebration.  It was a campus wide costume event, .months in the making, with everyone taking a part of some kind.  Most of the students were cast as peasants, and, come the big day, had to spend hours standing barefoot on the hot asphalt parking lot, waiting for the Grand Opening Procession to get organized. Because I could handle a horse - I had been taking riding lessons in lieu of Phys. Ed. - I got to be a Country Squire.  I'm accompanied here by Millie Rosdail and Pat Ainsworth, two of the instructors in the program.  During the afternoon, the three of us performed an equestrian Pas de trois, specially choreographed for the occasion by our drill team coach.  Millie and Pat, playing Proper English Ladies, had to ride it side-saddle.  Thanks heavens for my Y chromosome.

mostly unfinished, but we're happy.
