Alan Poe Suits
The Early Years

 



USS Vogelgesang DD862
Alan served on the Pre-Commissioning Detail
of this destroyer at the Bethlehem Steel Shipyards
Staten Island, NY. It was launched Jamuary 15,1945.
After a shakedown cruise the ship was officially
commissioned April 28,1945. Alan served as an
Electronics Technician on board the ship until April 1946.
